This blog post is based on a series of images that I posted on Facebook earlier this week. I entitled that series “Creativity Run Amok” and I am sure you will soon understand why. Over the course of my development as a photographer (a process that will continue for the rest of my life), I [...] As I scan back over my “recent” posts, I realize that the way I opened my last post could just as easily be the opening for this one. I started my last blog post by saying: “Sometimes things just happen and the next thing you know, two weeks have gone by without a blog post. Well the answer is at once simple and just a little bit complicated. A series of events transpired within a very short period [...] I had the pleasure of getting together with some real HDR heavyweights this past Friday and shooting at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. All totaled there were seven of us – Tony Sweet and Jason Odell (of the Image Doctors) who have just published an e-book on Nik HDR Efex Pro; Rick Walker, the other [...] This is really a continuation of my last post here. Same trip to Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, PA). Same camera – my Canon 30D. Same Lensbaby Composer but with the Soft Focus Optic rather than the Plastic one and using the +4 Macro filter from the Lensbaby Macro kit. I keep reading posts from friends saying what a great start to the year it has been for them and I feel jealous, envious, and somehow cheated. This year has started off very slowly for me. Knock out a week when I was laid up with a respiratory virus [...] Jeez, it’s been 12 days since I last posted. That’s bad, BAD, BAD! I’ve got to get back on a more regular posting schedule… but probably not until after the holidays! Since getting Nik HDR Efex Pro, I’ve been working with some of the different presets using them as starting points or jumping off points [...] Anyone who follows this blog and/or visits my website knows I do my share of HDR photography. I find it very helpful when I have a combination of very bright highlights and very dark shadows in the same composition. When that happens we can expose for the highlights in which case the shadows will be [...] Tack sharp! How often have we heard those words used to describe an image? And how much have we wanted to hear those words used to describe our images? We post an image and someone comments that the image is “tack sharp” and a sudden glow comes over us.
