This is really a continuation of my last post here. Same trip to Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, PA). Same camera – my Canon 30D. Same Lensbaby Composer but with the Soft Focus Optic rather than the Plastic one and using the +4 Macro filter from the Lensbaby Macro kit. I didn’t want to spend much coming out of the holidays but I felt the need to buy something. I thought about about software. I considered a new point-and-shoot to fill the gap between [...] Barb and I spent Sunday morning in the conservatory at Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, PA). This was the first weekend of the annual orchid extravaganza, an event we have visited and photographed each of the past four years. While orchids are the focus, they are by no means the only show in town. As always, [...] Jeez, it’s been 12 days since I last posted. That’s bad, BAD, BAD! I’ve got to get back on a more regular posting schedule… but probably not until after the holidays! Since getting Nik HDR Efex Pro, I’ve been working with some of the different presets using them as starting points or jumping off points [...] Tack sharp! How often have we heard those words used to describe an image? And how much have we wanted to hear those words used to describe our images? We post an image and someone comments that the image is “tack sharp” and a sudden glow comes over us. But those of you who know [...] I do both! All in all, this past weekend was pretty quiet at least on the photography front… a ride through the backcountry, a walk along the canal towpath, a visit to one of our favorite local state parks. Fun but nothing terribly exciting. Saturday’s ride through the countryside brought me through Durham Township (PA) [...] I must begin by admitting that I have been remiss in keeping my website and blog up to date these last two weeks or so. It was a little over a week ago that Barb and I spent our 40th anniversary wandering through the gardens at Longwood (Kennett Square, PA). This visit we were particularly drawn to the wonderful water lilies blooming in the pools outside the Conservatory. Interestingly, as we learned from the docent, they put [...] Long time followers of my blog will know that one of the place I enjoy visiting and photographing is Peace Valley Park in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. While I have shot sunrises and sunsets there on occasion, most of my visits have been in search of birds to photograph – all kinds of birds but mostly [...] The ebb and flow of our photographic lives always seems to have us moving from subject to subject, from technique to technique, from favorite lens to favorite lens as time moves incessantly forward.
